OMG this is the best story I have read in a long time and I read a lot. First, it is a standalone read with a HEA. A 40 year old mother of one teenage daughter finds that after 19 years of marriage her husband is gay. She is beyond hurt, depressed, etc. She cannot believe the man she has loved for all this time was a lie. Of course there were red flags in the later years but she chose not to acknowledge them. He has not only dropped this bombshell on her but also tells her he is seeing someone so he has cheated as well. She is in such pain that she sees no silver lining. She is angry and bitter but still trying to keep things together for the sake of her child. Not an easy thing to do when she is so hurt and he is such a first class jerk. He is constantly acting as though she is the one to do the cheating and hurting. She doesn't understand his actions and she still wants to run him over with her car.
This is a long story so not everything can be covered. The main thing that can be is when she meets a young NFL quarterback that is attracted to her. For 28 he has a lot of maturity and he is absolutely mind-blowing GREAT. I loved this hero. He is such a sweet and loving guy. They start to date, he is hard to resist. They have fun and they enjoy bantering back and forth. She keeps the relationship a secret because he is their town's hero quarterback and everything he does and everyone he sees is news. She doesn't want to be in the media circus., After all, she has a teen daughter to consider.
There is a lot of drama and soul searching that goes on with this story. I really wanted her to tell the ex-husband off or at least stand up to him but she seemed to take all his bull and let him control her life with his snarky attitude. I have a friend that this same thing happened to and she said that her husband acted the same way this guy did. Like the heroine she was just a loving, kind person and she allowed him to take advantage of her at every turn even though they were divorced. So, the heroine in the story is pretty much like real life.
This is a great story. I could not put it down once I started. I think I have read for over 5 hours straight. I DEFINITELY recommend this book to everyone. There were some scenes that had sex implied but nothing that would offend. It is such a good, good story. I don't believe I have ever seen another book that had so many 5 star reviews. Believe them, this is a good read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less." 6/9/17

Renaissance of the Heart eBook Lori M Jones Reviews
Renaissance of the Heart by Lori M. Jones is a novel absolutely worth reading, even if you are not a Pittsburgh Steelers fan! This novel is set in Pittsburgh and follows the journey of Amanda Lewis, a recently-divorced mom. Amanda is trying to forgive her past and mend her broken heart all while falling for a younger man, Bradley Erickson, an NFL quarterback. But is she ready for love? Jones' storytelling draws you in and you'll find yourself rooting for Amanda every step of the way!
Once I began reading Renaissance of the Heart, I did not want to put it down! If I did have to put it down, I could not wait to get back to it. I grew up in Pittsburgh and loved all of the references to the city of Pittsburgh and all of the sports teams. The emerging relationship between Amanda and Bradley was exciting to follow as it developed. The love and sex references are hot and steamy but not over the top (just in case your child stumbles upon the passages!). I highly recommend Renaissance of the Heart if you want to unwind, relax, and laugh (and shed a few tears).
Renaissance of the Heart is such a wonderful read. Amanda’s voice was authentic and full of the stress and worries that we all have but are afraid to let the rest of the world see for fear of being labeled crazy. I love how the act of forgiveness was recognized as a multi-layer process with forward as well as backwards progress and forgiving one’s self is the first, and often hardest, step.
Reading about my beloved city made the book all the more personal although it can appeal to anyone who loves their own town deeply.
I laughed out loud (she doesn't actually bleed black & gold!) and I cried. I did not want to put the book down but just wanted to read to the end and then was sad when I finished. The characters have stayed with me over the days and I continue to think about the story. It was truly awesome. I look forward to reading more by Lori M. Jones
I, too, agree with many of the reviews! Amanda's quirky womanly ways are true for most of us questioning what to do and when to call during a new relationship, not knowing how to introduce a man to family, when to text and what to wear, and even dealing with the stages of grief that come with an abruptly, broken marriage as she peels away to find that she was not responsible for its end. Amanda also grows in her divorce to empathize and support the husband who left her which makes her truly a woman to admire.
I loved the Pittsburgh aspect of the book as well, and enjoyed making those connections as a proud PA native. It's a wonderful book full of personal images, even down to the "Cougar" future mother in law! I loved that as she questioned her own age and new-found moisturizing ritual, there was Bradley's mother as a mirror image of everything she worried about as the "older" woman.
Lori's characters are true the best friend, the sister, the friends at work, her daughter, and even the die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers family FANS, who are not only surprised by her young quarterback boyfriend, but he, who in turn, graciously accepts every complaint and constructive criticism they have to offer, as every Steelers fan does on a daily!
Lori has a promising future ahead of her and I look forward to reading more of her novels as she progresses as a new writer. Congratulations, Lori Morrison Jones! I can't wait to read what comes next! You are an inspiration to everyone who should write their own book, and with that, I need to use you as a role model and stop procrastinating! Thanks for such an enjoyable read!!!
